WOMEN’S LIBERTY
The Liberty division is meant for new teams, and for teams who are just a step below the Women’s Open teams.  This year’s tournament will have only 3 returning teams, and 4 brand spanking new teams of young ladies who want to be a part of the action.  The Toronto CCYAA Girls is the team who placed second last year in Mesa, so they will get the benefit of the doubt here.  Although they are dealing with a few defections to other local teams, the girls who remain clearly are the ones with dedication to their organization.  Guard Jocelin On will be their top player, and she will have some help from 17 year old forward phenom Tara Man.  Expect this group of survivors to pull together.  The Montreal MMAC Magic will be led by 2007 All-NACBAIT guard Tweety Ho.  With the return of multitalented forward Anneth Him, you can stamp their ticket to the Final Four.  The New York Sabres Green will be competing in their 4th NACBAIT, so they’ve got the experience to compete at the Liberty level.  The top player for the Sabres should be their ever improving PG Carmen Ng.  Kim Lee (Univ. of Waterloo) will direct the Toronto Black Koi as they have formed a new team to compete in the NACBAIT.  Talent wise, some of these players would be top notch Open level players.  The only question here will be cohesiveness to see if the players can actually play together.  Kim Lee, Viola Cheung, and Miriam Tsao will be the big three for the Black Koi.  Hoping to take the Liberty Championship this year, the Black Koi are already looking to compete in the Women’s Open in 2009.  The Toronto Ravens are another new team looking to make a name for themselves.  With young Agnes Lam and buddy Kim Ngai doing their thing, this squad could make their mark and surprise somebody.  The NY Baby Cruisers will be the youngest team in the tournament, with the Nationals experience being the main reason for their participation.  The NY CASE Phoenix rounds out the Liberty field, and will star Jenny Chen at the point guard position.  In order for CASE to succeed, Jenny must lead the cavalry as this team of rookies makes their first visit to the NACBAIT.
