| It's a Wrap - NACBA Brotherly & Sisterly Love in Philadelphia The 2008 edition of the NACBAIT was a blockbuster hit, as 77 teams in 9 separate divisions converged on Philadelphia for their shot at glory. The fun began Friday night at the player-welcoming BBQ with an onslaught of food, continued with the Papa John’s Three Point Shootout, and concluded with the NACBA free throw shooting contest. Saturday saw a perpetual lineup of pool play games played at the city’s 3 major universities- Temple, Drexel, and LaSalle. Sunday was the single elimination portion of the tournament, and champions were crowned in 6 of the 9 divisions. Sunday evening was the festive Tournament banquet and awards ceremony, followed by a long night of grooving at Patou Night Club. Also on Sunday night, the $1,000 Philadelphia Suns Tournament Scholarship was awarded to one male and one female player who have demonstrated a serious commitment to academic excellence, athletic achievement, community service, and leadership development. Monday was yet another day of great games, with the Final Four being played in the Men’s Elite, Women’s Open, and Men’s Open divisions. If you wanted to be a part of something great, you had to be in Philly this weekend. The NACBA would like to express its gratitude to Drexel University, Temple University, PCDC, Judge Ida Chen, Senator Vince Fumo, John Dougherty, and Carol Wong for their generous support of this event. Also much thanks to Harry Leong and the Philadelphia Suns for organizing yet another record setting weekend.
