Description:
This is the event that started it all - The ultimate in Chinese basketball. Since 1983, the NACBA (North American Chinese Basketball Association) has staged this event in cities such as New York, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, Washington and Las Vegas. In the past, some of the best Chinese players have competed in this tournament. Players who have left their mark in the tournament with their stellar play include Richard Chang and Robert Fong (San Francisco Saints); the guard trio of Jerry Lew, Benny Hoang and Song Cun (Los Angeles Little Horse); and the high flying Kyle Kiang and power forward phenom Jim Shih (Seattle Bladerunners).   Let's not forget to mention Conant Chi (San Francisco Saints), who has been a member of the 3-time Champion, Hung Kuo Elephants of the Taiwan Professional League. Other notables participating in the past include 7'0" Sun Fong (Univ. of San Francisco) and 6'7" Mah Jing (University of Utah), both competed in the tournament and have gone on to play professionally overseas. In fact, many participants in this division have played at the high school or college level. But the division is really dominated by those who want to compete against the best.

The 2007 edition will see the 3-time defending champions, Seattle Bladerunners trying to capture their fourth title in the past five years. With the outstanding guard play of Song Cun, and big man Jim Shih, both former MVP's, the streak looks to continue. Knocking at the door is last year's runners-up, the San Franciso Dukes, who always seems to showcase some of the best ballers from the west coast.  Other teams that could possibly vie for the championship include the Washington CYC, led by their outstanding guard trio of Jeff Lee, Chris Lee and Keith Wang, all former college players; the CCYAA Toronto Dragons; the Boston Knights and the NY Cruisers.

2007 will also mark the eighth anniversary of this exciting division.  From its inaugural debut in 1999, the excitement and play in the Women’s Elite Open has been nothing short of spectacular.  This year’s edition will certainly be a true test for the Toronto CCYAA team (2006 champions), as they look to bring the championship back to the Canada once more.    This might prove difficult, as the west coast contingents, the
Los Angeles Aiya (3-time champs, 2001, 2003, 2004) and San Francisco Red Coach (2005 champs) look to make a statement back out west in Arizona.   Let’s see which team has got what it takes.

    Description:
2007 will mark the eighth anniversary of the Men's Senior 35+over division. Since its inception, it has been dominated by teams from the east coast, the NY Titans (1999), NJ Pirates (2000, 2001, 2006), and the Philadelphia Suns (2002), CCYAA Toronto Masters (2004 & 2005).   The lone exception was 2003 in Las Vegas, when the highly acclaimed San Francisco Saints returned to the tournament and dominated from beginning to end.  This year’s edition, will see the NJ Pirates trying to repeat as well as extend their championship dreams with a fourth title.  Stalwarts Beaver Ho, Rich Lo, Teddy Hom, and Steve Lee will be bringing their “A” game this year as well as their families.  Two time champions themselves, Toronto CCYAA will be led by perennial all star, 6’6” Richard Zhu.  This 40+ old superstar, Rich can dominate on the inside and hit the trey with ease.  The Chicago Dragons will be led by their all star, Robert Choy.            While the Boston Knights look toward the return of their dominant big man, Ed Chu, who played in the men’s elite division in 2006.  Perhaps, this will be the year that a west coast team challenges for a title. Will the San Francisco Saints be making a return trip to stake their claim?

2007 marks the fifth anniversary of this division started back in Las Vegas.  That year, the San Francisco Freemasons defeated the NY Rockits Alumni to capture the inaugural championship.  Since then, the past three championships have all been claimed by teams from the basketball hotbed, New York City (Crossbearers in 2004, Fishmen in 2005).   In 2006, the New York Rockits Alumni were victorious over the San Francisco Wildcats.  Coach Denny Lee had this to say, “ each year the competition in this division gets stronger and faster”.  This newly created division is perfect for those teams that are interested in hooping it up with their friends.  Newly formed teams, or teams that have played in some of the previous National Tournaments now have the opportunity to come back and play and still have fun.  This division is also perfect for younger teams on the rise who are just a step away from competing in the Men’s Elite Open.   Either way, this division is about making friends and playing some hoops at the same time.
