Men's Elite Division

$700 Entry Fee, Plus $100 NACBA fee, Plus $200 Refundable Deposit

Description:
The Men’s Elite is our top division where the best ballers (college and high school standouts) have competed since its debut 34 years ago.  In 2014, LA Alpine Little Horse continued its winning ways by capturing the coveted championship in a tightly fought victory over the USAB Warriors, 49-46.  It was the second title in a row for LA Alpine and the 11th overall since their first title in 1988. The excitement buzzing around this year’s tournament will center on the chance to 3-peat by the LA Alpine Little Horse.  Strong challenges should come once again from Lunar NYC (formerly USAB Warriors) and two teams from Vancouver, Strathcona and Boiling Point.  Additional Canadian teams that will make their presence known are the Toronto Huskies and the Toronto Dragons.  Finally, rumor has it that the NY Cruisers will make their return after a two year hiatus.  The action is non-stop and the crossovers are “KILLER”.

Eligibility: Open to all participants of direct Chinese descent. Participants must be at least 25% Chinese (at least one grandparent must be 100% Chinese).

  • All participants must be at least 16 years old and can play for only one team.
  • Maximum team roster of 12 players
  • At the tournament, all participants must present some type of photo identification (passport, birth certificate, driver's license, etc.) that proves their age or nationality. If a protest is lodged, the burden of proof is on you to prove otherwise. Be sure to bring original copies of parents/grandparents documentation as verification. Failure to do so will result in the player(s) disqualification from the tournament.
  • Use of ineligible players will result in forfeit of any games played and possible team disqualification from the tournament.

Format: Either 8 or 12 teams.

  • The NACBA will select 8-12 Elite teams from the pool of Men's Elite/Mens Open teams to compete in the highest division of Chinese Basketball. Teams will be selected based on their previous performance(s) at the NACBAIT, and NACBA approved events.
  • The Final Four teams from the 2014 Elite division are guaranteed bids into the Elite division.
(LA Alpine Little Horse, Lunar NYC, Toronto Huskies, California Davis Dynasty)
  • In order to preserve longstanding tradition, four Elite bids will also be reserved for the "founding member" teams if they opt to enter a team into this division: Boston Knights, Chicago Dragons, NY Rockits, and Philadelphia Suns.
  • The Final teams from the 2014 Open division are guaranteed bids into the Elite division. (Vancouver Strathcona, Philadelphia Fastball)
  • If any of the previous year's automatically qualifying teams are founding member teams, then it will open up one additional spot.
  • Teams not selected for the Men's Elite Division will compete in the Men's Open division.

Men's Seniors 35 Division

$650 Entry Fee, Plus $100 NACBA fee, Plus $200 Refundable Deposit

Description: In 2014, missing in action was the Chicago Dragons who had dominated the 2012 and 2013 editions.  But making his a return appearance after a two year hiatus was Richard Zhu of the Toronto CCYAA.  And just like that Toronto CCYAA returned to glory with a 39-33 victory over the Boston Hurricanes.  For 2015, it’s likely that the Chicago Dragons will make their return as they look to break the dominance held by Toronto CCYAA (2007-2011, 2014 Seniors 35 champions) in this division.  Challenges should come from a couple of NY area teams: FBNYC and a team loaded with some pretty decent streetballers. But who knows what other teams will make an appearance from Canada.

Men's Master 45 Division

$650 Entry Fee, Plus $100 NACBA fee, Plus $200 Refundable Deposit

Description: The Boston Knights pretty much ran away from the other teams in the division as they cruised to a 45-20 victory over the NY Fishmen.  With Beaver Ho and Rich Lee leading the way, the Knights were in good hands.  Who will challenge in 2015?  That’s a good question.  Rumor has it that the NJ Pirates are planning to return.  Then there’s the possibility of Toronto CCYAA sending a team with Richard Zhu.  Lets not forget about the Chicago Dragons, the 2011&2013 champions and the NY Fishmen and NY Thunder. MMAC organizer, Richard Chin is also courting numerous teams from China and the United States to participate.  Chances are very high that there will be some new faces and teams in this division.
