Mens Open Elite Division

$800 Entry Fee , Plus $150 NACBA fee, Plus $200 Refundable Deposit

Description:  The Men’s Elite is our top division where the best of the best have competed for the past 33 years.  Last year, the Seattle Bladerunners outlasted LA Alpine to win its 7th Elite crown.  Expect Alpine (9 titles), Washington CYC (9 Final Fours, 4 Finals since 1999), NY USAB (4 Final Fours since 2004), and the NY RL Cruisers (3 Final Fours since 2007) to contend.  Additional bracketbusters could include the Toronto Dragons (3 Final Fours), the Boston Hurricanes (3 Final Fours), Vancouver Boiling Point (2012 Open Champs), and the NY Crossbearers (2011 Open Winners).  Word on the streets is also that the Chicago Dragons are plotting a return.

Eligibility:  Open to all participants of direct Chinese descent. Participants must be at least 25% Chinese (at least one grandparent must be 100% Chinese).

  • Format: Either 8 or 12 teams.

    • The NACBA will select 8-12 Elite teams from the pool of Men's Open/Mens Elite teams to compete in the highest division of Chinese Basketball. Teams will be selected based on their previous performance(s) at the NACBAIT, and NACBA approved events.
    • The Final Four teams from the 2012 Elite division are guaranteed bids into the Elite division.
    • In order to preserve longstanding tradition, four Elite bids will also be reserved for the "founding member" teams if they opt to enter a team into this division: Boston Knights, Chicago Dragons, NY Rockits, and Philadelphia Suns.
    • If any of the previous year's automatically qualifying teams are founding member teams, then it will open up one additional spot.
    • There is also a guaranteed spot for the team who captured the previous year's Open Championship.
    • Teams not selected for the Men's Elite Division will compete in the Men's Open division.

    Mens Open Division

$750 Entry Fee , Plus $150 NACBA fee, Plus $200 Refundable Deposit

Description:  In 2012, it was a Canadian dominated scene as 3 of the Final Four teams hailed from north of the border.  In the end, Vancouver Boiling Point downed Vancouver Strathcona to earn the coveted hardware.  In 2013, we should expect contending squads from historic programs such as the Boston Knights, NY Rockits, NY USAB, Philly Suns, and Washington CYC.   Upstart squads from Texas, Montreal Mars, LA Blob City, LA Everest, and Davis Dynasty are also on the radar.  This year will be as wide open as ever in the Mens Open!

    Mens Friendship Division

$750 Entry Fee , Plus $150 NACBA fee, Plus $200 Refundable Deposit

Description: The Friendship division is our recreational level division.  Teams from LA have shown that they can dominate the Friendship Division with relative ease, as the LA Anchormen and LA Everest have swept through the past two years unscathed.  Will the east coast recapture their shot at glory, or will one of the Toronto teams step up to the big stage?  It’s anyone’s game, but the preseason favorites should probably include the Boston Knights, Chicago Dragons, NY Falcons, Philadelphia Fastball, and Toronto CCYAA.  There could also be a reunion of the MIT Fob Five team of yesteryear, since quite a few of their players now reside in the Minny area.
